You may have noticed a renewed effort from different companies in making video calling and conferencing services more easily available in recent months, and Google has been part of that. Recently, the company enabled Chromecast support in Google Meet so you can use TVs or other large displays for your video meetings, and now, Duo is also coming to some TVs, though in a different way.

Buried in Для просмотра ссылки Войди или Зарегистрируйся today, Google announced today that Duo is rolling out in beta to Android TV users over the next few weeks. With the app, users can participate in one-on-one and group calls from their TV. If the TV has a built-in camera, video calls will work right out of the box, but if they don't, it's also possible to use a USB webcam for Duo calls.

Of course, you can also use Chromecast on your phone to throw a Duo video call on the TV, but you'll still have to use your phone's camera, microphone, and speakers, so a native Android TV experience has its advantages. You could use a higher-quality USB webcam, for example, plus you'd be able to get louder sound from the TV's speakers.

It's not all too clear when exactly the new Duo app will be available, but it should show up sometime soon.
