Judging from all signals in the industry, NVIDIA is now really close to release their first consumer-based Apere graphics cards. Indicated is an announcement late August, and release in late September. That means Q3 is going to be busy.
Bot Nvidia and AMD will present their new GPU flagships this year. Graphics cards developed under code name Ampere have been a hot topic of discussion alright. Magazine Hardwaretimes now states that sampling of the ampere graphics cards will start at the end of August. Although this process step depends on factors such as the region and local logistics, sampling should start at the beginning of September at the latest.
If all is true, nothing would stand in the way of a release this September. A large-scale release event would most likely take place in late September. Partner cards from other board manufacturers would then be released a few weeks after the founder's edition was released, provided Nvidia maintains the previous release schedule.
There is also new insight into the performance data of Nvidia Ampere. Leaker "Kopite7kimi" on Twitter claimed that an RTX 3090 or RTX 3080 Ti achieves almost 10,000 points in the TimeSpy Extreme benchmark, where he gets these numbers from however leaves a big question marker.
The specs Ampere lineup are as follows (preliminary):
  • RTX 3090 (Titan): 5248 shaders|24GB GDDR6X VRAM| 350W TDP
  • RTX 3080: 4352 shaders|10GB GDDR6X VRAM| 320W TDP
  • RTX 3070 Ti: 3072 shaders|8GB GDDR6X VRAM| 250W TDP
  • RTX 3070: 2944 shaders|8GB GDDR6 VRAM|220W TDP
Keep in mind that these are the specs provided by Для просмотра ссылки Войди или Зарегистрируйся on Twitter and haven’t been confirmed by our sources nor NVIDIA. The flagship model would achieve a performance jump of over 50 percent compared to the RTX 2080 Ti. There is also a first announcement for the RTX 3080: almost 8,600 points should be possible here, which means an impressive 35 percent higher performance compared to the RTX 2080 Ti. No sources are mentioned though, and lately it seems more guesswork from these twitter users rather than solid concrete info.
We will keep you up to date, of course.
