Google Meet gets background blur and support for 49-person tiled layout

With background blur, users will be able to blur their background while on a video call to hide the mess that their room is in or to just put the focus on themselves while speaking. This feature will work in tandem with the background noise reduction feature in Meet to greatly improve the video calling experience and reduce distractions. Right now, background blur is only available while using Google Chrome on Windows or Mac, with Google planning to roll out support for ChromeOS and Meet's mobile apps on Android and iOS in the coming weeks.
Additionally, Google is rolling out support for viewing up to 49 participants in a Meet video call when using the auto or tiled layout options. It has also added the option for a user to see themselves as a tile as well which will be located on the top-right corner. If you tend to hold particularly large video meetings or classes using Meet, this new 49-person layout will be helpful as you can see the reaction of a large number of people at once.
By default, the tiled layout will show 16 participants and the auto layout will show 9 tiles. You will have to manually adjust the slider to adjust the number of tiles that you want to see on the screen at any given time. The layout adjustment you make will be limited to that video meeting only.
