Waze rolls out railroad crossing alerts worldwide

Waze will now alert you when you are about to hit a railroad crossing. The navigation service today announced the new update to its Android and iOS apps, available to everyone worldwide.
Google, which owns Waze, noted that a group of rail network operators provided the railroad crossing data for the new feature, verified by volunteer map editors (via Для просмотра ссылки Войдиили Зарегистрируйся). This group includes MTA Long Island Rail Road, Amtrak, the Railway Association of Canada, and the Secretary of Communications and Transportation of Mexico. The feature is now available in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and France.

The feature is also live in other territories including the UK, Italy, Israel, Brazil, Colombia, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Ireland. Data on railroad crossings in those countries were submitted by local map editors to Waze.
When you are approaching a railroad crossing, Waze will display an alert on the map and remove it only after you cross the tracks. Of course, there's an option to Для просмотра ссылки Войдиили Зарегистрируйся.
You can do so by opening Waze and then tapping Search. After that, go to the settings and select Map Display > Reports > Railroad crossing. From there, you can disable the alerts at your own risk.
