Vivo unveiled in June of this year its 120W Super FlashCharge system that promised to fully charge a 4,000mAh phone battery in a short period. Today, at an event in China, the company's gaming phone brand, iQOO, officially announced the fast charging technology.

A clip from the event, Для просмотра ссылки Войди или Зарегистрируйся, reveals that the fast charger can fully juice up a 4,000mAh battery in 15 minutes. It can also charge that same battery size to 50% in a span of five minutes. Currently, OPPO and Realme hold the claim for the fastest charging smartphones, with their Find X2 Pro, Reno Ace, and Realme X50 Pro, all featuring a 65W fast charger. That's not a big surprise, of course, since both those companies, along with Vivo, are owned by BBK Electronics. Vivo vows to introduce another iQOO-branded gaming phone in August, rocking its new fast-charging system. In addition, the company plans to kick off mass production of that technology soon.

Today's announcement marks another step in Vivo's effort to push the boundaries of phone charging tech like its sister companies. A few hours ago, OPPO also teased a 120W fast charging tech for its devices, promising to charge a phone with a 4,000mAh battery in about 10 minutes. It remains to be seen, though, how these companies will address increased battery degradation issues associated with this technology.
