Last week, we reported that Qualcomm might be working on a bumped up version of its Snapdragon 8cx Compute Platform, called the Snapdragon 8cx Plus. Now, Для просмотра ссылки Войди или Зарегистрируйся are already starting to show up, starting with one from a Microsoft PC (spotted by Для просмотра ссылки Войди или Зарегистрируйся).
Scoring 789 on single-core and 3,092 on multi-core, the unit is called OEMSR OEMSR Product Name DV, and it has a 3.15GHz octa-core processor, just like the Snapdragon 8cx Plus leak, along with 16GB RAM. For comparison, the Surface Pro X can get 770 on single-core and 3,037 on multi-core.
While it would by easy to assume that this is a refresh to the Surface Pro X, that's probably not the case. In fact, it's probably just something that Microsoft or Qualcomm is testing internally, which will never come to market. For one thing, modern Surface products were exclusive to Intel until late last year, but when Microsoft brought AMD and Qualcomm on-board, it made sure to get its own custom processors made.
The Surface Pro X uses a Microsoft SQ1, which is nothing more than a Snapdragon 8cx with a higher clock speed on the CPU and the GPU. This benchmark seems to be of an off-the-shelf version of the 8cx Plus, so not only would Microsoft not get its custom brand name, it's not even as much of an improvement from the SQ1 to the 8cx Plus as it would be from the 8cx to the 8cx Plus.
Indeed, for a proper Surface Pro X refresh, we'd have to wait for Qualcomm to announce a proper Snapdragon 8cx refresh, and if the Snapdragon 8cx Plus is the next in line, then we might be waiting a little while. Meanwhile, Apple is already winning when it comes to ARM64 PC benchmarks.
