With PRTG (Paessler Router Traffic Grapher) you can easily set up and run a monitoring station that logs the amount of data flowing out and into any SNMP enabled network component. The most common usage is monitoring the bandwidth usage of leased lines, routers and firewalls. But you can also monitor the usage of servers, managed switches, printers and other network components.
Features
Here is a list of the features of PRTG:
Monitors network traffic and bandwidth usage via SNMP
Monitors one or more network parameters (so called "Sensors")
Monitors any value that is accessible by SNMP (i.e. any given OID Object ID)
Contains a list of common OIDs for various devices
Keeps track of the gathered monitoring data for up to one year
Shows usage graphs for the last 8-96 hours, 14 days, and 52 weeks
Shows usage data tables for the last 96 hours, the last 365 days, and the last 12 months (transferred bytes and average bandwidth separately for IN, OUT, and IN+OUT traffic)
Can send daily reports for each sensor with graphs and data tables
Can send notifications when a specific transfer volume (per day or per month) is reached
Offers a simple cost calculation method based on transfer volume
Writes data into HTML files on the disk (needs other web-server for remote access)
HTML files can be customized using custom templates
