Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 12 lineup in September this year barring any unforeseen delays, and rumors have been ripe about the Cupertino giant’s upcoming smartphones. A lot in the way of features such as a high refresh rate 120Hz ProMotion and more have leaked in the past. Reports also suggest that the device will be sold without a power adapter or EarPods in the box.

It suggests that the company is planning to let users record 4K resolution videos at either 120ps or a staggering 240fps. The iPhone 11 Pro currently lets users record FullHD 1080p videos at 240fps. The inclusion of this frame rate for 4K videos would be unprecedented in a smartphone camera.
Weinbach and his sources also found references to the new high-resolution slow-motion video feature in iOS 14 code, suggesting that the groundwork for the feature is already in the OS. However, Koroy says that it is possible that Apple could be “interlacing frames” and up-scaling 4K 120fps videos to achieve the higher frames. The upcoming smartphones are expected to come with major camera upgrades, and many of the new capabilities could be courtesy of the A14 Bionic chip.
In addition to the higher resolution slow-motion feature, Koroy also provided an update on the production status of the ProMotion displays for the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models. The larger of the two phones has reportedly passed all five hardware tests, with its smaller sibling passing four of the five tests. The firm is supposedly still deciding on which of the devices should come with the feature, but it is possible that Apple could offer it on both the models with the hardware quirks fixed in time for launch.
It will be interesting to see how many of these rumored features will make it to the final product. In all, the reports hint at impressive improvements coming to the next-generation iPhones.
