MSI presented their custom MSI GeForce RTX 30 series cards ina stream yesterday.

The stream info was really limited mainly due to NVIDIA embargoes but did show the two Gaming and Ventus versions of the RTX 3080.

MSI is to release GeForce RTX 3090, 3080 and 3070 in two series initially: the Gaming and Ventus. The GeForce RTX 3090 Gaming Trio X and the GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming Trio X will get fitted with three 8-pin connections, while the Ventus versions use two 8-pin power connectors.

The GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio relies on dual 8-pin. With the GeForce RTX 3090, MSI relies on two heat pipes under the backplate for the first time in both series, soldered on the back to a graphene covered plate. So the backplate is no longer a visual assistant, but a fundamental part of the cooling.

The graphics cards presented today will all span over 2.5 slots. This also applies to the RTX 3070. An interesting remark was that it is not recommended to use a motherboard based on PCI-Express 2.0 with these cards, purely for AMps, which is ironic with an Ampere card :)

MSI mentioned it uses an in-house thermal tests phase. All of these elements should ensure optimal cooling of the GPU.

The GPU should be guaranteed below 80 and/or 75 degrees. The backside of the Ventus card show three display ports and one HDMI 2.1 connector.

MSI does not have a USB-C interface because this no longer was specified by Nvidia. With the Ventus series, only two instead of three 8-pin power supply connections should be used.

Other than design nothing was revealed as MSI did not show prices, neither specific dates and clock rates for the custom designs. Have a peek at some screengrabs.

Здоровенная бандура. А сколько она электричества будет жрать, остается только предвкушать :)

No matter what, you’ll need a minimum of a 750W PSU to power the new card along with everything else in your machine. Aside from the PSU itself, users need “two dedicated PCIe 8-pin power cables coming separately from the PSU”. If you receive one of the Founders Edition graphics cards from Nvidia, a 12-pin to dual 8-pin adapter will be provided to you in the box. However, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards from companies such as Для просмотра ссылки Войди или Зарегистрируйся, Для просмотра ссылки Войди или Зарегистрируйся, Gigabyte and others aren’t expected to include the adapter, meaning that you will have to go the route outlined in the diagram to get power to the card.
